Ensemble
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22 June 2026 · Effective: 22 June 2026
Ensemble ("Ensemble", "we", "us", or "our") is an AI-powered wardrobe and
styling application. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we
collect, why, how we use and protect it, and your rights over it.
For the purposes of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the
"DPDP Act"), Ensemble is the Data Fiduciary and you (the
user) are the Data Principal.

1. Who we are
Ensemble is an AI-powered wardrobe and styling app: you photograph your
clothes, get outfits styled from what you own, try them on, and share looks.
This policy covers the Ensemble app and its related web pages.
2. Age requirement
Ensemble is intended for users aged 18 and over. By creating
an account, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. We do not
knowingly create accounts for, or process the personal data of, individuals
under 18. We ask for your date of birth at sign-up to confirm eligibility. If
we learn that we have processed the data of someone under 18, we will delete
it.
3. What data we collect, and why (Notice under Section 5, DPDP Act)
We collect only the data needed to provide the app's features:
| Data we collect | Why (purpose) |
| Email address (and name, if provided) | Create and secure your account, sign you in, and send you account and service emails — sign-up/email confirmation, password resets, and important notices about your account or the service. These are transactional emails, not marketing. |
| Date of birth | Confirm you meet the 18+ age requirement. We store your date of birth and a derived age-status flag (whether you are over or under 18) used to gate age-sensitive features such as on-body try-on. |
| Photos of your clothing/garments | Build your digital wardrobe, generate catalogued items and stylised cut-outs, and power outfit suggestions and styling features. |
| Photos of yourself ("body photos") | Only if you choose on-body virtual try-on, to render selected garments onto your photo. |
| Wardrobe and usage data (items, outfits, wear logs, ratings, preferences) | Provide outfit suggestions, the styling canvas, fit ratings, and improve your experience. |
| Approximate location (only if you grant location permission) | Fetch the current local weather so outfit suggestions suit the conditions. Your approximate location is sent to a third-party weather service (Open-Meteo) for that request and is not stored by us — we keep only the resulting weather snapshot. |
| App activity / analytics (in-app events such as signing up, cataloguing an item, creating a render, viewing the paywall — with your subscription tier and region) | Understand how the app is used, measure feature adoption and retention, and improve the product. These are event metadata only — we do not send any image content, and no analytics event contains your email, name, or date of birth. Processed by PostHog on our behalf. |
| Technical data necessary for the service | Operate, secure, and troubleshoot the app. |
We do not sell your personal data. We do not
use advertising identifiers or serve third-party ads.
Email verification. When you sign up, we may send a
confirmation link to your email address; opening it verifies the address
belongs to you. We also use your email to send password-reset and other
service messages. These are transactional emails essential to operating
your account.
4. Third-party processors we share data with
To provide the app's features, we share only the data necessary for each
feature with the following third-party service providers, acting on our
behalf:
- Anthropic — AI language/vision processing (cataloguing, outfit suggestions, fit ratings, and safety screening). Receives your photos and item descriptions.
- xAI (Grok Imagine) — AI image generation for virtual try-on rendering and garment cut-outs (run via fal.ai). Receives your body and/or garment images.
- Google (Gemini) — AI image processing (garment recolouring, and garment cut-outs on the alternate path). Receives your garment images.
- fal.ai — AI model-hosting infrastructure for virtual try-on, garment cut-outs, and background removal (hosts the xAI Grok and FASHN models). Receives your body and/or garment images.
- Open-Meteo — weather service. Receives your approximate location to return local weather for outfit suggestions (we do not store the location).
- RevenueCat — subscription management. Receives your account user ID and purchase/transaction events to manage your subscription and entitlements. Payments themselves are processed by Google Play; we never receive your card details.
- Resend — email delivery. Sends our transactional emails (sign-up/email confirmation, password reset, and service notices). Receives your email address and the content of those messages. It does not receive your photos, wardrobe data, or date of birth.
- PostHog — product analytics. Receives app-activity events (event names plus low-detail properties such as your subscription tier and region) and an anonymous account identifier. It does not receive any image content, your email, name, or date of birth.
We share only what is necessary to perform the feature you request. These
providers process the data to perform that feature under their respective
terms. Some of these providers may process data outside India. We use a
privacy-conscious product-analytics service (PostHog, above) for app-activity
metadata only; we do not use advertising services, and we do
not sell your data.
5. How we handle and retain your images and data
- All data is transmitted over secure, encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).
- Your photos are stored in private storage accessible only to your account
and served only over short-lived signed links. Encryption at rest is
provided by our storage platform (Supabase); it is not implemented by the
app itself.
- Body photos. If you use on-body virtual try-on, your body
photo is stored in your private account storage. It is not deleted
after a try-on is generated — it remains stored so you can reuse
it, and is retained until you remove it (“Remove my photo” in
Settings), replace it (uploading a new photo overwrites the old one), or
you delete your account. Each time you run an on-body
try-on, your stored body photo is sent securely to our try-on processor
(fal.ai / FASHN) to render that result.
- Garment photos and generated renders. Photos of your
clothing and the virtual try-on images generated for you are also stored in
your private account storage and retained until you delete your account. To
conserve space we keep only your most recent renders (approximately the 30
latest per account); older renders are removed automatically.
- We apply data minimisation — we collect and retain only
what is needed for the stated purposes.
- You can delete your account and all associated data at any
time in the app (Settings → Delete account). This permanently
removes your wardrobe data, all stored photos and try-on renders
(including your body photo), and your profile. See our
account-deletion page for details.
- After deletion, only a minimal set of records may be
retained: safety and abuse-prevention logs (which contain no photos or
personal profile data), and purchase/transaction records held by Google
Play and RevenueCat as required by tax and accounting law. See our
account-deletion page for what is deleted and
what is kept.
- If you withdraw consent, we stop the corresponding processing and delete the
associated data where it is no longer needed for a stated purpose or legal
obligation.
6. Your rights (Sections 6 & 13, DPDP Act)
You have the right to:
- Access a summary of the personal data we process about you.
- Correct, complete, update, or erase your personal data.
- Withdraw consent at any time (stopping the corresponding processing).
- Grievance redressal — raise any complaint directly with us (below) before escalating to the Data Protection Board of India.
To exercise these, contact
info@wearensemble.app or use the
in-app Account settings.
7. Grievance redressal (Sections 6 & 13, DPDP Act)
For any grievance about how we process your personal data:
Grievance contact:
info@wearensemble.app
We will respond within the timeframe required by law. If you are not satisfied,
you may escalate to the Data Protection Board of India.
8. Security
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit; encryption at
rest via our storage platform.
- Private, per-account storage with access controls; privileged account
attributes cannot be altered by client devices.
- Uploads are screened by automated safety systems; we provide reporting and
takedown for inappropriate content.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, will note material
changes, and will update the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes
means you accept the updated policy, subject to any consent we must re-obtain.
